RICOWI, Inc. awarded André Désjarlais with a Lifetime Honorary Membership in recognition of his dedication and support. Mr. Désjarlais volunteered his services for over 18 years to the RICOWI organization. He represented one of RICOWI's first founding Sponsor Members, Oak Ridge National Laboratory on RICOWI's Board of Directors. His expert knowledge of buildings' performance in both the wind resistance and energy efficiency areas makes him one of the leaders in his field. Over the years, he has presented numerous advanced level technical presentations to diverse audiences, and his volunteer time has greatly enhanced RICOWI's seminar program.

Mr. Désjarlais served on RICOWI's Executive Committee for 14 years holding the position of Secretary/Treasurer. Mr. Désjarlais provided key support and knowledge during RICOWI's early years. His efforts and dedication with the RICOWI's Wind Investigation Program helped RICOWI significantly advance its research mandate. RICOWI's sustained recognition as a current, modern leader in weather research and safer, more efficient roofing design is due in large part to Mr. Désjarlais' determined efforts.
A native of Woonsocket RI, Mr. Désjarlais earned a degree in Aeronautics with an option in fluid mechanics from Boston University in 1973. Désjarlais joined the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 1991. He currently is the Group Leader of the Building Envelopes Group n the Building Technology Center. Prior to joining ORNL, Désjarlais was Manager of Testing Services at Holometrix, Inc. (formerly Dynatech R/D Company).
Désjarlais has been a Member of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) since 1987 and serves on Committees C16 on Thermal Insulation, E06 on Building Systems, and D08 on Roofing. He is the past Chairman of ASTM Committee C16. He has been a member of ASHRAE since 1991, serves on Technical Committees TC 4.4 on Thermal Insulation and Building Systems, TC 1.8 on Mechanical Insulation Systems, and TC 1.12 on Moisture Control in Buildings, and is presently Chairman of TC 4.4 and Research Chairman of TC 1.8. Désjarlais has been a member and Past Director of the Single Ply Roofing Institute (SPRI) Technical Committee and Board of Directors. Désjarlais is the ORNL representative and former Chairman of the Federal Roofing Committee and past Member of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC).
Désjarlais and his wife Nancy live in Knoxville, TN with their three children.
